But because of lack of knowledge regarding worker rights, work permit and visa application process, many people suffer in the long run. To prevent happening these, some important things should be known to the working people in abroad.

1.Visa: A valid work visa/Job Visa/ Work permit is the most important thing for any person who wants to work abroad. Other Visas like Tourist Visa or Student visa will not allow you to get a full time job. Al though in most of the countries, student visa comes with a limited time work permit for the students but full time work is prohibited.

2.Embassies are there to help you for any kind of problem: In most of the influential countries in the world, Bangladesh has its embassies and high commissions. It is necessary for Bangladeshis working in abroad to keep in touch with the embassy. It is recommended to keep their phone number for any emergency.

3.Before going to the desired country for work, it is recommended to review the terms and conditions with your offered job. If you are going with the help of any agency, keep the clarification of agreement between you and the employer.

4.Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment of the people’s republic of Bangladesh works for the betterment of workers outside the country. keep yourself updated by visiting their website. Their website is (probashi.gov.bd) Also Bureau of Manpower Employment and Training (BMET)is responsible for the welfare of Bangladeshi workers aspiring to get a job in abroad.

They provide training which makes a person efficient.

  1. Knowing the local language of the country you are working will always give you much more opportunity than others, so, it is highly recommended to learn the local language.
  2. Choose your air ticket cautiously. Usually ticket fares vary from airlines to airlines and it is also dependent on time and date.
  3. Lastly always abide by the law of the country where you are at. Any break of rules can lead to visa cancellations it is very important to have knowledge about the local laws regarding foreigners. Respect the laws and culture of other countries.
By remaining aware and respecting the laws, It will be much easier for any Bangladeshi to work abroad. Bangladesh government provides all kinds of necessary help through its embassies and consulates for the people working in other countries.
