Manali can be visited throughout the year. The best time of traveling Manali depends on what you want from this magnificent destination. If you want to escape the summer heat of most of the Asian or middle east countries you should visit it from March to May. If you want to experience live snowfall and enjoy snowy mountains and trees then the best time to visit is October-February. June-September is considered a dull season because of the monsoon and there are also chances of landslides. Basically, there is old Manali and new Manali and geographically; the only thing that separates Old Manali and Manali are the Beas River. You can notice the complete change of scene once you cross the river. New Manali is full of people, houses, hotels, and resorts. Whereas, old Manali is quiet, peaceful and you can find the bliss of nature there. Kullu is a very good base for nearby treks to Spiti Valley, Pin Valley, Lahaul Valley, etc. Not just small treks but several intermediate treks start from here for people who are interested in trekking. More than just treks, you can also try rafting, paragliding, zorbing, rappelling, rock climbing in that zone. Kullu is also known for its temples & monasteries dedicated to various deities. Manali mall road is the life of new Manali with dozens of shops and restaurants. You can easily hike to Hadimba Temple which is like 1.5 kilometers from the mall road. This popular 15th-century temple is known as the “Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani” a famous Bollywood movie and also for its architecture. There is beautiful cedar forest that surrounds the temple. Dhungri village is still untouched from the developing town of Manali and has this raw essence of nature.


Solang Valley is the most popular tourist spot in Manali. No true blood adrenaline-seeker can afford to miss this sheer beautiful place. Due to heavy snowfall the road gets blocked during winters. The pass is usually closed by the Indian army in the month of November and reopened in April or May. The iconic Bollywood song “Yeh Ishq Hai” from the famous movie “Jab We Met” was shot in Rohtang pass and parts of Manali. The food is also very fancy in Manali. They have this unique veg and non veg cuisine. From trouts to chicken you can find a lot of varieties. But Momos of Manali is a must try item. Also the kebabs and curry are unique in taste.
